This week has been event full both politically and socially.

The week begun on Monday September 26th with the announcement of the police week which is running until Monday October 3rd 2016, when the force will celebrate its National Police day.

On the same day, the Forum for democratic change, FDC announced a move to throw a mega home coming party for the party former presidential candidate Dr. Kiiza Besigye who was slated to return Yesterday Thursday 29th, only for him to postpone his comeback for Monday 3rd October. The party claimed to have written to the police about the move, but police denied receiving such a letter.

However, today morning, Kampala metropolitan police spokesperson Emilian Kayima told us that they had allowed only a handful of senior FDC officials to go with the press and welcome their leader home on Monday.

On Monday still, over 1000 former legislators who served from Independence, 1962 to 2012 were awarded the Golden jubilee medals. The ceremony cost Parliament up to 600m shillings. However, the speaker explained that the amount had been set aside by the 9th Parliament and was not from this year’s parliamentary budget.

The event was snubbed by a number of opposition figures including DP president Norbert Mao who claims there is no need for a medal, considering he received a certificate of service when he left the house.

This, Mao disclosed during the DP weekly press conference on Tuesday in Kampala. Matembe added voice to this claiming the money used to buy these medals could have been used to buy medicine in health centres.

Also this week saw KCCA announce final preparations for the annual KCCA carnival set to take place on Sunday October 2nd. At the event on Thursday attended by all headlining sponsors, KCCA Executive Director Jenifer Musisi told city dwellers that there will be all kinds of entertainment, food, drinks, musicians including Navio, Sheebah, Radio and Weasal, Pator Bugembe and many others.

Crowned today Friday, government has announced that starting tomorrow, residents of the Kampala central business district and some areas of Entebbe will access free internet courtesy of President Museveni.

The good News was announced by Frank Tumwebae, the minister for Information Communication Tehnology and National guidance at the government owned media centre in Kampala.

The free internet will be accessed every week day from 6pm to 6 am and weekends from Saturday 3PM to Monday 6am.

He says this is will be extended to other parts of the country, and all citizens shall be connected and stay informed since most of the day to day information is communicated by social media by use of the internet.
