The Kampala Capital City Authority, KCCA will on June 1st swear in the Lord Mayor, Erias Lukwago, and newly elected Lord Councilors.

The ceremony was slated for Friday last week, but would later be postponed due to some undisclosed reasons.

Appearing on NBS this morning, Lukwago who is readying up to serve his second term said he was not happy with the postponement of the swearing in from last Friday to June1, claiming he should be in office right now.

“With the postponement, there is a vacuum in Kampala...a void. All this is unfortunate and ridiculous,” Lukwago angrily reacted.

It is not yet clear who will administer the mayoral oath, since the law is unclear. Lukwago says that unlike last time, a judicial officer might administer it. "The other time, the mayoral oath was administered by the KCCA ED but this time, it could be a judicial officer"

Lukwago’s first term in office ended prematurely after councilors voted him out of office due to incompetence.

He however returns spitting fire, claiming he will not stop fighting for good governance, though he says it will not be an easy term. "It is not going to be easy. We are still dealing with a tired regime that has no respect for the will of the people," he said.

Unlike in the past, this time most of the councilors are opposition affiliated and he believes this is an advantage. He believes it will be hard for government to manipulate them with threats or money.

He promised to unveil his plans for Kampala on Wednesday, June 1st, during in the swearing in ceremony. “I have an action packed programme for Kampala. I will unveil it on June 1 after I swear in,” Lukwago promised.

He promised to kick Museveni out of State house saying he will not rest until this is done.
