Iganga Municipality Member of Parliament, NRM’s Peter Mugema Panadol has become the talk in town after he went against his party norms and nominated an Independent legislator Muhammad Nsereko for Deputy Speaker of parliament, against his party choice, Jacob Oulanya.
Panadol has since then been a center of controversy with NRM legislators criticizing him for being a two faced person.
They claim he sat in the party caucus and agreed to vote Oulanya, only for him to change goal posts and nominate Nsereko, in front of the party Chairman & president Yoweri Museveni.
Members have since called for a disciplinary action against him.
But the country was surprised to learn that the hero, who went against his party, was the first legislator to pick 5 million shillings offered to NRM legislators by president Museveni.
The said amount is believed to have been offered as a token to induce NRM MPs into voting Oulanya for deputy speaker.
This morning, Mityana County North MP Godfrey Kiwanda Ssubi shocked the nation when he shamed Panadol live on national television.
He told NBS morning show that; “The first person to pick the UGX5m was 'Panadol', the very person who nominated MP Nsereko for Deputy Speaker.”
This clearly showed Panadol’s two faces as a person who duped his party to believe that he was part of the family, only for him to run away to the opposite side.
Nsereko, an independent NRM leaning MP lost to Jacob Oulanya by 185 votes. Oulanya scooped 300 votes, while Nsereko scooped on 115 of the vote.
Panadol could soon face the party disciplinary committee to explain why he ashamed his party as though a broken family that could not hold its members together. Nsereko told the country that Panadol was a hero.
