Pastor Augustine Yiga, the founder of Revival Church Kawala has been released on police bond after spending all weekend at Kawempe Police Station following his arrest and detention on Friday evening.

Police detained Yiga when he went to Kawempe Police Station to record a statement against accusations of raping his follower, Angella Ainembabazi in 2014. Ainembabazi claims that the pastor raped her in the prayer room where she had gone to seek spiritual redemption and financial breakthrough to cater for her siblings since they had grown up as orphans.

According to his lawyer, Evans Ochieng, his client was released on police bond around 7:30pm last evening and instructed to report to Kawempe Police Station on February 18th 2019 as one of the conditions attached to his bond.

Pastor Yiga's followers on Saturday stormed the Station demanding his unconditional release, saying the charges against him are framed, though this is not the first time, the owner of ABS TV is being dragged to court.

It is remembered that in 2007, Brendah Nalubega dragged Yiga before Nabweru Magistrate's Court for allegedly failing to take care of the Child they sired together. During the same year, Yiga was dragged to the Executions Division of High Court for failing to pay the monthly up keep of Shillings 150,000 for the child as directed by court.

The baby mama first sought help from FIDA Uganda, which failed to reign in on the pastor, and it was not until when DNA tests were conducted that Pastor Yiga accepted responsibility for Nalubega's child.
