Uganda police has finally accepted receipt of a criminal summons against former Kampala central police station DPC Aaron Baguma.

Polly Namaye, the police deputy spokesperson explains that the force is liaising with the office of the director of Public Prosecutions DPP to see that the officer who is facing murders charges is produced before court to face justice.

Baguma’s woes stem from his alleged participation in the murder of a one Betty Donah Katushabe, a Kampala trader who was tortured at the hands of pine car bond proprietor Hajji Ssebuwufu Muhamed for failure to pay a sum of 7m shillings.

It is alleged that Baguma had prior knowledge of Katushabe’s unfortunate torture that would later result into her death and he visited the place where he reportedly saw Betty crying for her life to be spared but never responded.

The murder is said to have happened at Pine car bond located in Nakasero Kampala.

“We received a copy of the summons that were issued and the police is working together with office of the DPP and court to ensure that he is produced at an appropriate time” said Namaye.

The force has in the past denied any knowledge of such summons until today. Baguma was recently sent to school by the police in a move that many thought was meant to help him escape facing justice.

The DPP’s office has asked police to amend the charge sheet and add Baguma.
