Renah Stanislaus Owamani, the opposition Forum for Democratic Change-FDC Youth League Chairperson in Kabale District has been suspended over misconduct.

According to Dr Joseph Tindyebwa, the FDC Deputy National Secretary General in Charge of Policy and Research, the decision was made by the National Executive Committee-NEC and National Youth League members, following Owamani's arrest in a case of burglary, theft and rape.

A resident of butobere cell in Central Division, Kabale Municipality Owamani, 26, was arrested on January 23 after stealing a jacket, 450,000 Shillings, a National identity card and other documents from a one Everest Tugeineyo, a businessman in Kabale municipality.

The youth leader was remanded to Ndorwa Government prison by the Kabale Grade one magistrate's court on February 1. But on that same date, Oamani was also remanded for allegedly accessing a 27-year-old woman’s honeypot without consent. The rape incident occurred on December 25, 2017.

The suspension according to Tindyebwa, also follows the request by Kabale FDC youth leaders in July 2017, accusing him of tainting party's image by being implicated in theft scandals.

His woes date as back as July 2017, when Owamani was remanded to Ndorwa Government Prison for stealing two mobile phones from James Twinamatsiko, the Central Division Principal Assistant Town clerk and Sunday John Peter, the Nyabikoni ward LC IV councilor.

The suspect was also implicated in April 2017 for the theft of 50,000 Shillings belonging to Mackline Batwaare, the Southern Division Local council III chairperson.
