Drama ensued at Kalisizo Hospital as Police arrested a man who was attempting to steal an ambulance. Police identified the suspect as Ismail Musa Musasizi, a resident of Namasuba Central Zone in Makindye Ssabagabo Municipality-Wakiso district, who was abandoned by his partners oin crime at the hospital.
The suspect is also said to have been found in possession of army fatigues, master keys and a number of fake number plates including UAJ 811X and UAJ 118X, indicating that he has been a notorious thug. Two other thugs managed to escape before the arrest of their colleague.
According to eyewitness accounts, the trio was riding on a motorcycle Reg. No. UDF 929G, and parked outside the hospital gate, made several uncoordinated movements in and out of the facility raising suspicion from motorcyclists.
The suspect admitted to the crime saying they had come for the ambulance and a double cabin that belongs to the District Health Officer which he was to take to Democratic Republic of Congo or other preferred destinations.
Musasizi recorded a statement at Kalisizo police station, before he was handed over to the Armored Brigade unit at Kasijjagirwa for further investigations.
The Armored Brigade Spokesperson, Fred Nuwagaba confirmed receiving the suspect and adds that the Brigade Investigations Officer (BIO) Daniel Atwine is handling the matter to ascertain where Musasizi got the army uniform.
