Hundreds of mourners gathered at Kijura town council in Kabarole District to send off Ronald Businge the police constable attached to the Field Force Unit who was killed by machete-wielding criminals.

According to Police, the assailants cut Police Constable Josephat Twinamatsiko on the head and face, while PC Busingye was cut on the back before the robbers snatched their guns.

The assailants proceeded to set fire, using petrol, to a parked lorry Fuso box body UAR 301Z which had a mechanical problem and was undergoing repairs.

She stated that Busingye was the only breadwinner of the family, and his unfortunate death means she has to take care of their four children all by herself.

Lukicho said the support from the police should go beyond buying the casket, and food for mourners.

Justus Asiimwe, the Commandant of the Field Force Unit described Businge as a dedicated and disciplined officer who died only three days after he had been transferred from Lwengo.

Norman Musinga, the Rwenzori West Regional Police Commander said that police and other security agencies have started conducting investigations into the attack on police officers.

Musinga assured the family of the deceased that the police will ensure that the family gets justice but also compensation because he died while on duty.
