The Fort Portal branch of Makerere University has been closed.
According to immerging reports, the Fort Portal branch which was opened in 2010 has been closed due to escalating financial constraints and poor student enrollment.
A letter dated May 25, signed by Charles Barugahare, the University Secretary, the campus will not open for the 2016-2017 academic year. He states that the councils decision was based on the poor enrollment since the inception of the campus in 2010.
The Fort Portal campus was only offering Bachelor of Business Administration, Bachelor of Commerce, and Bachelor of Development Studies.
We have also been told, that the continuing students will enrolled to the main branch in Kampala or other branches.
