Oscar-winning actor Jamie Foxx is facing legal action over allegations of sexual assault dating back to August 2015.

An unnamed woman, identified as Jane Doe, has filed a lawsuit in New York Supreme Court, as reported by USA TODAY.

According to the complaint, the incident occurred at Catch NYC's rooftop bar, Catch Roof, when Foxx, 55, allegedly made inappropriate comments to Jane Doe after her friend approached him for a photograph.

Reportedly under the influence of alcohol, Foxx is accused of grabbing her by the arm and pulling her to a secluded area of the rooftop.

There, the lawsuit claims he placed both hands on her waist, moved them under her crop top, and proceeded to rub her breasts. Additionally, the suit alleges Foxx remarked that she resembled Gabrielle Union.

The legal document asserts that a security guard witnessed the incident but did not intervene. It further claims that the woman's friend eventually located her, prompting Foxx to cease the inappropriate behavior and walk away.

Filed under New York's Adult Survivors Act, which became effective in late November 2022, the lawsuit seeks compensation for pain, suffering, emotional distress, anxiety, and humiliation.

The legal action is noteworthy as it allows adult survivors of sexual abuse to pursue legal recourse in New York, even if the statute of limitations on their claims has expired.

Earlier this year, Jamie Foxx experienced a medical episode that led to his hospitalization in Atlanta due to an undisclosed medical condition. The actor publicly addressed his recovery for the first time in July, shedding light on his health status.
