There are Ugandan musicians who have tried so hard to sing. They have been lucky to stay in the music industry for some time but as they age and the industry gets competitive, they are slowly fading away. Some were written off by drugs and couldn't sing anymore.
Jackie Chandiru
Her music career started in a flashy way. While still with Blu 3, Jackie dropped hit after hit. As years went by, Blu3 collapsed due to witchcraft, envy, and money. Jackie decided to get married as she tried out a solo career. This didn’t last as frustrations led her into drug abuse. The marriage collapsed and now she is holed up in a rehab fighting the drug addiction.
Vampino
He is one of the most talented artistes in Uganda but he failed to be on top. He is always trying to make a comeback. Recently, he recorded a song with his brother Maurice Kirya. It didn’t record massive airplay. Vampino is always spotted in bars smoking and drinking booze.
Julie Mutesasira
After her marriage collapsed, Julie ran out of the country to the USA. Sources in the US revealed to us that Julie sings in the church where she prays from. She was turned into a choir leader of the church. Julie’s music career started so well and her fan base grew instantly but as time went on, she failed to balance family and fame. Her husband, Steven Mutesasira accused her of dressing indecently something that was a shaming him since he is a pastor. Her love for money also killed her career.
Toniks
This boy should come out and say goodbye to us musically. He has been reported dead several times after being in and out of the hospital. Toniks had a budding career until he got involved in drugs and sex. Ever since then, Toniks has been trying to get back on the music scene but has surely failed.
Keko
Drugs killed Keko’s music career. The rapper was at one time taken to the rehab after drug addiction. When she came out, she tried a few songs here and there but up to now, she has failed to get back to the tune where she was. She is ever in Bugolobi bars drinking and smoking. By the end of this year, we must count Keko off the social media.
Judith Babirye.
Before she joined Parliament, Judith Babirye would record and release songs instantly but ever since she joined Parliament, she put music on hold. And it may keep on hold
Bobi wine
Bobi wine’s music career stopped the day he entered Parliament. In making, Bobi wine is surely businessman. His ever telling his fans that he won’t change but we doubt that. He is busy looking for better things ahead than singing. Of course, he will still hide in the skin of being a musician to gain popularity.
