Total Uganda Limited and Total E&P employees mid this week visited Dwelling Places, an NGO that rehabilitates and takes care of former street children.

Dwelling places is located in Mutundwe, a Kampala City suburb.

During the visit, the employees donated items that mostly comprised of clothes, among other reusable items that the children can use or that can be sold off to earn more money for the former street children’s welfare.

While addressing the former street children and the management of Dwelling Places, Susan Nampala the Human Resource and Administration Manager Total Uganda expressed that Total is committed to supporting the NGO to rehabilitate the children.

“Contributing to the human, cultural, social and economic development of people is one of our key objectives at Total. We shall continue doing so through supporting organisations like Dwelling Places to ensure the improvement of the lives of these children” said Nampala.

While receiving the donation, Dwelling Places Managing Director Ritah Nkemba said “We thank Total Uganda Limited and Total E&P for this donation. These children come here with nothing. These items will help the children live a better life”.

This is the second time Total is donating to Dwelling Places. Last year, the company donated 20 computers to the NGO to help it equip its staff and the children with computer skills.

Under its Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives, Total undertakes a number of donations. In June this year, Total donated computers and Job Access with Speech (JAWS) software to the Uganda National Association of the Blind (UNAB). The JAWS Software allows blind and visually impaired people to read computer screen either with a text-to-speech output or by an electro-mechanical device
