Infamous greater Masaka leaflet distributing criminals have struck again, leaving residents in fear for their lives.
This was revealed by police spokesperson Emilian Kayima, during the weekly press briefing at Naguru, Kampala this morning.
According to Kayima, the leaflets have been discovered in the areas of lwengo, Bukomansimbi, Sembabule and masaka districts. They had been on break since a police crackdown a few months ago.
Criminals according to residents of the aforementioned districts, demand huge sums of money, and threaten to kill residents who do not comply with their demands.
The leaflets are then left at door ways of the targeted locals. A few months back, these criminals killed a number of locals and left several others injured in such attacks.
Now, Kayima says they are back. But, this time they have added car number plate theft to their list.
“We have reported cases of car number plate thefts, where these criminals that were originally here in Kampala have shifted to greater Masaka. They pluck off your number plate at night, demand for money, even leave you a phone number to call so that you can recover your number plate” Kayima said.
He has advised residents not to give these hooligans money, but report such cases to police, so that their number plates are tracked immediately.
