Ugandans have on several occasions decided to take laws in their hands and kill wrong doers who hurt them or their loved ones. In some instances, those killed in such a manner, have turned out to be innocent.
Uganda police force has also continued to encourage a violence free handling of such cases. But now, Kaberamaido Police are holding three people accused of masterminding the killing of two suspected goat thieves.
Charles Oumu, the Kaberamaido District Police Commander, identifies the suspects as Betty Eryekot, the owner of the two stolen goats, Michael Abau, the LC I chairperson Kalipa village in Kaberamaido Sub county and a security operative whose identity hasn't been disclosed.
DPC says the trio is wanted for inciting residents to lynch 23-year-old Joshua Ejabu, a resident of Ararak village in Kaberamaido town council and a one Owale, a resident of Abedi village.
An angry mob descended on the duo on Tuesday at Kalipa trading center when they found them with three stolen goats. Oumu says the LC I Chairperson and the goat owner had a hand in the lynching of the suspects. The suspects are being held in custody at Kaberamaido Central Police Station.
Charles Esemu, the father of Owale one of the mob victims, describes his son as a young man who led a reckless lifestyle with bad groups. He says his son evicted them from their home forcing him to rent in Kalipa trading center for several months.
