William Bayo the scandalous Gulu Resident State prosecutor, has been released on police bond after two days in police custody.

Bayo was arrested on Tuesday evening at Jojo's Palace for soliciting for money from a one Joyce Ataro, to help her place charges against her cousin Beatrice Aloyo, the woman Councilor for Bardege-Laroo division in Gulu town who she accuses of stealing 52 million from her 18-years-ago.

According to authorities, Aloyo is already facing a separate trial for theft. However, her cousin Ataro, wants her to be charged with forgery and fraud. She had since sought the services of a State Prosecutor, to amend the charge sheet and place more charges against her.

However, the corrupt and greedy prosecutor reportedly asked her to pay two million Shillings to amend the charge sheet. She then offered to give him an installment of 500,000 Shillings. Ataro later brought the matter to the attention of the Resident District Commissioner Santos Okot Lapolo who advised her to make copies of the notes before delivering them.

The RDC then sent a team of detectives who arrested Bayo while receiving the money from Ataro. He was charged with abuse of office and bribery under reference number SD 73/20/03/2018.

The officer in charge of the criminal investigation in Gulu, Ronald Were, says the suspect was granted bond and will report to police on April 3.
