Kumi Municipality Education Officer Robert Ikwap, is in hot soup for alleged bribery. Police indicates that Ikwap was picked on Tuesday by a team from the Soroti Regional Inspectorate of Office and Police officers on allegations of soliciting a bribe from St. Klever Technical College in Kumi.

Michael Odongo, the East Kyoga Region Police Spokesperson, has confirmed Ikwap's arrest, saying he is in custody at Soroti Central Police Station waiting to be transferred to the Anticorruption Court in Kampala. Odongo further explained that Ikwap was handed over to police by a team of Investigators from the Inspectorate of Government-IG.

The IG Spokesperson Munira Ali explained that Ikwap is wanted for soliciting a bribe of Shillings 450,000 from St. Klever technical school whose operational license had expired. Ikwap, according to Munira, approached the school for a bribe to help them reopen after being closed by Kumi municipality.

However, the Inspectorate of Government was tipped off about the deal and laid a trap for the education officer. Ikwap will appear before the Anti-Corruption Court in Kampala tomorrow May 18th 2018 to answer charges of soliciting and receiving ratification.
