A campaign manager is being held at Zirobwe Police Station in Luweero district over alleged vote-buying.

Police picked up Fatumah Kalyango a resident of Central zone in Zirobwe town board last night after she was found in possession of 19 national Identification cards which she had bought from voters in favor of her candidate Jamil Jjuuko who is contesting with Umar Makona for LC 1 Chairperson seat of Central zone.

According to Pasikali Imarachi the LC 3 Chairperson of Zirobwe sub county, Kalyango was arrested on a tip that she was buying National IDs at 10,000 shillings but paying 5000 shs cash to each voter.

The plan was that those who surrendered IDs were supposed to vote Jjuuko and later get paid the balance of 5,000 shillings. While those who didn't vote him would refund the money, to get back the IDs.
