Ugandas President Yoweri Museveni has received and bid fare well to the out-going Kenyan High Commissioner to Uganda Maj. Gen. (Rtd) Geoffrey Okanga who called on him at State House, Entebbe on Wednesday. Gen. Okanga takes leave after the end of his 9-year tour of duties in the country.

The president in the meeting appreciated Ambassador Okangas input in the cementing of the economic relationship and social ties between the two neighbouring East African Community members, Kenya and Uganda.

On his part, Ambassador Okanga expressed gratitude to the President and to the people of Uganda for the hospitality accorded to him during his stay in the country saying that it enabled him successfully perform his duties.

The ambassador further commended the President for his support to over 2,000 Kenyans who went to Kiryadongo District in Bunyoro Sub-Region during the 2008  2009 post election violence in Kenya.
He hailed Mr. Museveni for the joint border commission set up between Uganda and Kenya that, he noted, will go a long way to further boost trade relations between the two countries.
