Muhammad Kirumira the former Buyende District Police commander will be laid to rest this afternoon at his ancestral home in Mbampire, Mpigi District.

Kirumira, alias Mwoyo gwa gwanga was gunned down last evening in Bulenga, next to his home. He was driving home from a party.

According to eyewitnesses, the late Afande known for his passion for a safe Uganda was shot by two men travelling on a motorcycle. They identified the men as one in a white cloak and a passenger who allegedly did the shooting.

This has been the trend of all assassinations in the country including those of Muslim clerics, late Joan Kagezi, Maj. Kiggundu, the late police spokesperson Andrew Felix Kaweesi and Col Ibrahim Abiriga, the former Arua MP.

It remains unclear who these men are, considering a host of Muslims have been arrested in the past in connection to these murders. The assassins have killed the persons in the same manner by trailing them in their cars.

While the lady travelling with the good afande died on spot, Kirumira was pronounced death at Rubaga hospital after being rescued alive from the car.

President Yoweri Museveni rushed to the scene and spoke to residents who had been enraged by the act. The president released a statement condemning the murder of Kirumira, and promised to capture the pigs that killed him.

The president further applauded boda boda men in bulenga who chased the assassins. “While still using the old methods, I want to salute the residents of Bulenga for, although not armed, some Boda Bodas gave chase to the killers- 4 of them riding on motorcycles - up to Mile 9.

On the urban criminals, the sub- committee of security began meeting at 10:00hrs under my chairmanship and we are to stop these pigs by not just relying on the old police methods” the president writes.
He added that his government will re-deploy the older methods of capturing criminals.

“Pending the installing of cameras etc everywhere, we are going to re-activate the Luwero methods to deal with these cowardly pigs. Wait for my announcement this afternoon” he says in the statement.

Kirumira served as Buyende DPC, but prior to this, he served as DPC old Kampala where he helped put away several criminal elements especially those terrorizing people on streets, Kisekka and Owino markets. He also helped recover people’s properties including phones, laptops and several household materials from these thieves.

He however fell out with his bosses months ago when he was brutally arrested and charged with several counts including misuse of office. He was also charged with stealing rolex, from a suspect. His trial before the police tribunal turned dramatic when on several occasions journalists were denied access.

The outspoken kirumira told the nation that there was a lot of corruption taking place in the force and that the same force was funding criminals instead of arresting them.

He will be laid to rest at 2:30pm this afternoon as investigations into his death continue.
