President Yoweri Museveni has applauded the Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence, CMI for the job well done in apprehending what he calls a number of suspects in the killing of ASP Muhammad Kirumira.

The president took to twitter this morning to address the country about the events, claiming the suspects would appear in court soon.

On Friday 28th September 2018, a joint security operation was carried out in areas of Namungona, Lugaga Division in Kampala district, with a target of apprehending a terrorist cell in the area. The security officers arrested 9 suspects during the operation, while one was shot and died upon arrival at Mulago hospital.

The deceased was identified as Kateregga Abdu. Now, president Museveni says Kateregga was one of the ADF terrorists that had benefitted from Amnesty in the past.

“It turns out Kateregga Abdu was one of the ADF terrorists that had benefitted from Amnesty in the past. This, therefore is to put on notice all the killers that the wages of sin is death (Roman 6:23)” the president writes.

He urges members of the public that may have some more information about the gang of Kateregga to inform police.

Former Buyende DPC, ASP Kirumira was shot dead by unknown assailants travelling on a motorcycle earlier last month. Police has since commenced investigations into his murder. At the time of his death, the officer was not in good terms with his bosses at the Uganda police force.
