Teachers and pupils at Mother Care Bright School in Maganjo are still in shock after an explosion occurred earlier in the morning, injuring two.

The duo was identified as Igembe Ashraf and Namakula Ronitah both 13 years old. The explosion occurred in the primary 7 class at 7:30 am on Thursday, and the injured pupils have been rushed to mulago hospital for medical attention.

C/ASP Luke Owoyesigire the Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson explains that the explosive which shattered Igembe’s hand injured Namakula’s eye was as a result of playing with an unidentified object yet to be established by police experts from the bomb squad.

“We have also established that the unidentified object was brought into the school by Kasozi Abdul, a 12 year old pupil who picked it on his way home yesterday and later carried it to school today” Owoyesigire says.

Fragments from the explosion have been picked by experts who will carry out investigations.
