There was panic and fear at Entebbe international airport this morning among passengers aboard Ethiopian Airlines B-737-800 aircraft Reg. No. ET-ATV with flight number ET338 on a regular schedule service from Addis Ababa to Entebbe when it skidded off the runway by a few meters during landing.

Passengers and crew were immediately deplaned and taken to the terminal and cleared normally. It is reported there were no injuries but only shaken passengers who thought their final day had come.

“Passengers and crew were safely deplaned, taken to the terminal and cleared normally through regular clearance process. There is no damage to the aircraft and it is being towed to ramp” the Airline says.

Meanwhile, passengers who were waiting at Entebbe airport to travel with the same aircraft to Addis Ababa have to wait for an alternative flight that is being arranged to complete the return flight. These are being rebooked.

Investigations have commenced to discover what could have caused this morning’s incident. Ethiopian Airlines is one of the largest airlines in Africa.
