Uganda police force has arrested 78 criminals in Hoima for their involvement in acts of lawlessness in Kyabisagazi village, Kigorobya Sub County, leading to the murder of one police officer.

Uganda police force has arrested 78 criminals in Hoima for their involvement in acts of lawlessness in Kyabisagazi village, Kigorobya Sub County, leading to the murder of one police officer.

Simon Achile the gang leader is still on the run and police are searching for him. According to Police spokesperson Fred Enanga, the gang murdered a police officer only identified as Taremwa.

The police and sister security agencies heard about the gang and on February 13th they planned an operation to dismantle its operations. However, during the operation the gang members pounced on the officer, shot him, disarmed him and beat him to death.

Enanga says 11 people have been picked up specifically for the murder of Taremwa, while others are face different charges.

“Out of those arrested, we have 11 suspects who are to be charged with the murder of our police constable Taremwa. We have an additional 27 suspects whom we are charging for illegal entry and stay, while 40 suspects are charged for going armed in public” Enanga says.

During the operation, the police found Congolese, the Alur, the Kebu and Lendu who were grabbing land, robbing road users and intimidating residents. 
Police has now asked members of the public who could have fallen victim to these guys’ gang work to report to police
