Police in Mbale are searching for a teacher who is alleged to have beaten a student to death.

Annet Namono on Monday allegedly caned Denis Wadeba, 18, a senior three student of Nyondo Secondary School in Nyondo Sub-county for failing to do his home homework.

The student lost his life on Monday at St. Theresa Nyondo health centre III a health centre which is a few metres away from the school where he had been rushed by fellow students for medical attention. 

Robert Tukei the Elgon regional Police Spokesperson says the student’s body has been taken for postmortem but I am still waiting for more details

According to Robert Kutoti, a health worker at St. Theresa Nyondo health centre III, Wadeba had a bladder blockage and swelling on the abdomen and died at round 11am moments after he was admitted at the facility.

He passed as doctors struggled “to revive him from a coma.

Namono is currently on the run. She allegedly gave Wadeba more than five hot strokes on different parts of the body before he collapsed and became unconscious. 

According to Florence Bweri, the school head teacher, the deceased was among those caned by the said teacher for not doing their homework.
