Lord Mayor's office at City Hall has this morning been re-opened, exactly 2 years, 4 months and 4 days since its closure.

This morning, new councilors asked KCCA to get the Lord Mayor’s office clean before he occupies it for his second tenure.

General cleaning and refurbishment of the office went on for hours at the city hall as Erias Lukwago prepares for his second stint as city Lord Mayor.

Lukwago was thrown out of his office in late 2013 by the authority councilors accusing him of abuse of office and incompetence.

Lukwago was kicked out of office in a special council meeting chaired by the by Minister in charge of the Presidency and Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA), Frank Tumwebaze. 29 councilors voted in favor of removing Lukwago. Only three councilors were against the motion.

Now, he returns with at least all newly elected councilors in his favor, and these have already displayed their love for him by getting his parlor cleaned prior to his swearing in ceremony.

Since re-election, Lukwago has maintained his focus during his new tenure will be on accountability, and he will tussle it out with his long time tormentor, also KCCA ED Jennifer Musisi.
