On Tuesday, Frank Gashumba survived by a whisker to be sent back to Luzira prison. While appearing before Buganda Court alongside his brother, Innocent Kasumba, their  charges were read which included  impersonation but  both denied all the charges. This prompted government prosecutor, Nelly Asiku to ask the magistrate to send them back to Luzira on remand.

Asiku explained that he backed Gashumba’s bail in the first place because he did not expect them to deny the charges. Gashumba’s lawyer however challenged the prosecutor to outline a law which permits court to cancel his client’s bail yet he has not disobeyed any conditions set by it.

The magistrate concurred with Gashumba’s lawyer. The two will appear before the same court again on February 19.
