In a letter addressed to the enablers, Mr Tony Glencross, (Managing Director) Nation Media Group was very clear on how the giant media company is planning to offload some of their staff to facilitate the transformation for a stronger future.

It is has always been a matter of time for this to happen and the letter addressed to the enablers pushed the last nail in the coffin for tens of employees majorly in the print media(daily monitor and The East African) and Nation Media Group.

Worldwide, the digital transformation has been a big driving force in the direction and growth of the media industry.
Media Gurus predicted and still say this move was inevitable due to the advancement in technology that has rapidly pushed the regional media group to the corner with instant drop in the advertising revenues and newspaper sales.

This has steadily reduced the general revenues of the company prompting the urge to charge citizens a fee for a click on their website which has not yielded any fruits due to the few numbers willing to pay.

This furnace brings tough times to employees of Daily Monitor, Kfm, NTV, Spark TV, Dembe FM and the East African plus all media entrepreneurs because no one is certain of their job.

We shall keep you posted about this consolidation.
