Born in the Eastern District of Tororo in the year 1988/August/02 Ologe Philemon Daniel aka Philly Do is a dynamic afrobeat Ugandan artist, singer and song writer. He has had musical interests from a tender age.
"I remember at the age of about 6 whenever a song I liked came on the radio I would ran close to it (radio) just to listen to the sound, at the time South African and Congolese music were big."
He wrote his first song at the age of 14 in Senior 2. "This was in 2001 Chameleon and Bebe Cool had just broken into the scene, I remember vividly chameleon's 'mama mia' was a big song at the time. Nairobi's Ogapa Deejay's ruled the East African Music Industry, my first songs written were heavily influenced by the Kapuka and Genge sounds coming out of Nairobi at the time."
He however didn't record any music till 2008 though he kept writing lyrics. "I had actually put down the pen prefering drawing for a creative outlet, however in my Senior 5, I become friends with a one Fred Oboth who was a big Hip Hop fan at the time, I discovered he was trying to write some rap lyrics but had hit a snag, I offered to help and he really loved my writing, His love for my works reignited my interest in music. I wrote over 200 songs in my A-Level 2006-2007."
Between 2008 to 2014 He recorded acouple of projects "I knew I could really do something with this music thing but never really gave it my all, I would step in studio every once and then to kangamu."
In 2017 all this changed when he met up with Jay Rabzie a budding reggae and dancehall artist who inspired him to take on music as a career.
Philly Do is currently working on an EP titled 'Year of grace' to usher him into the local music scene. "The sound on this EP is typically Uganda dance music, people should expect to break a sweat whenever any of the tunes there in come on."
