Sadness has gripped residents of Mityana, after a one year old boy who went missing five days ago was found dead on Wednesday. One-year-old John Kalangalo went missing after being kidnapped from Mityana district on January 13th 2018.
His body was found lying in a passion Fruit garden in Namutidde village in Bulera Sub County in Mityana District.
According to police, the infant was reported missing by its parents on January 13, 2018. In his statement, Henry Musaazi the baby's father says Kalangalo was picked from their compound by unidentified people who were seen by another child that was playing nearby.
Musaazi adds that they tried to search for the child in vain prompting them to report to police.
Norbert Ochom, the Wamala Region Police spokesperson, says police began searching for the child immediately the complaint was filed.
"A search for the child immediately began by both the Police and the Wananchi until Wednesday when the body of the deceased was discovered," Ochom said.
The scene of crime report indicates that Kalangalo was killed and his ear cut off raising suspicion that he was a victim of child sacrifice.
Police have since picked up four suspects in connection to the child's death. The deceased's body is lying at Mityana hospital for postmortem.
