Grief, panic, terror has hit Bondo Trading Centre in Ayivu County in Arua district after a Uganda People's Defence Forces--UPDF soldier attached to the 57 battalion in Arua district killed himself after shooting two civilians dead and injuring another.
 
The killer soldier has been identified as Private Arthur Niwamanya, formerly attached to 503 brigade headquarters, who had just been recently transferred to 57 Battalion. 
 
According to the spokesperson for the 4th Infantry battalion in Gulu district, Major Telesphor Turyamumanya, private Niwamanya killed two men and wounded a woman in Bondo Trading Centre in Ayivu County before shooting himself dead. He says circumstances surrounding the incident are still under investigation. 
 
The deceased civilians were identified by Major Turyamumanya as Nicolas Drandu and Amos Alioni, residents of Bondo Trading Centre and Ayivu County respectively. He says the incident took place on Wednesday morning. 
 
Alice Adribiru, the injured woman is receiving treatment at Arua Referral Hospital.
