What started as an innocent facebook post, has landed the Mukono Municipality MP, Hon. Betty Bakileke Nambooze into police custody. The Uganda police force have arrested Nambooze in connection to the assasination of her Arua Municipality counterpart, Ibrahim Abiriga.

Nambooze’s troubles however stem from a facebook post (video) she made, explaining how easy it is to attack Abiriga even with his bodyguards all around him.

This, according to police is a way of inciting violence. The aggressive MP who last year, during the infamous age limit debate attempted to remove a cap off the late Abiriga’s head, was picked up- by police from her home in Muono.

She is currently being held at Jinja police station. The MP was allowed visits from the Kampala Lord Mayor, Erias Lukwago and FDC Iron lady Ingrid Turinawe. The MP has been interrogated before the duo.

Hon. Abiriga was assasinated by unknown people on Friday, near his home in Kwanda, Wakiso district. Police has since opened investigations, naming Hon. Nambooze, a one Nasser Mugerwa, Peng peng ( Ugandan based in Sweden) and Jane Kuli as those being looked into.

Recently, Parliament passed a daily UGX 200 tax on social media, after government said  Ugandans were misusing it. They claim Ugandans were using hate language, inciting violence and others using it to support terrorism.

It remains unclear, whether police actually has a clue about the murderers of Abiliga and his brother Saidi Kongo, or just holding onto the above mentioned persons of interest.
