The police of Koboko are investigating an incident in which officials under Uganda Revenue Authority, URA shot and killed one person.

The incident occurred on Sunday 9th October 2022 when SPC Yosa Poru, RA Aduaze Ahumad and Kisa Albert a UPDF who were deployed as day shift guards at Koboko URA offices were attacked by the deceased identified as Nyota Vincent 24 years, a resident of Arese village, Dregiba parish, Midia Subcounty, Koboko district.

Josephine Angucia the PRO West Nile noted that the deceased attacked SPC Yosa Poru, hitting him on the forehead with a claw metallic harmer, and tried to steal his Riffle number UG. POL 564809077-10294 with 30 rounds of ammunition.

This happened when a crowd that was matching along Koboko-Yumbe Road during the independence day celebrations was passing by the URA officed.

A UPDF officer number RA Aduaze Ahumad joined the officers in the struggle to save his colleague and recover the said gun, but Nyota overpowered them and ran towards Alimakodra cell, where most notorious thugs stay.

According to Angucia, RA Ahumad shot a warning bullet on the ground asking the suspect to surrender the gun but Nyota instead turned back and attempted to shoot at the officer.
In self-defense the officer shot him dead.

A joint team of police and UPDF officers led by DPC Koboko visited the scene and rescued SPC Yosa Poru who was then rushed to Koboko health centre IV for treatment but was later transferred to Arua Regional Referral Hospital for better management.

A search was conducted on the body of the deceased at the scene and some documents, exhibits of the claw hammer and UPF Riffle with 30 rounds of ammunition which was grabbed by the deceased were all recovered and exhibited.

The body of the deceased was conveyed to Koboko health centre IV Mortuary for Postmortem.
