There is a heavy deployment in Kampala following protests by fans of Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine and Mityana Municipality MP Francis Zaake.

The duo was denied permission to leave the country on Thursday, before being arrested and taken to Kirrudu hospital where they are currently receiving treatment.

Residents of Kamwokya and a few others in Kisseka market had started protesting this morning, but security deployed heavily and did not allow them to go any further.

Supporters of the MPs believe they should be allowed to travel for specialized treatment. While Hon. Zaake was authorized by the doctors to go to India, this was not the same for Bobi Wine who allegedly left Lubaga Hospital without a discharge letter.

The Kyadondo East MP is out on bail on treason charges emanating from a scuffle in Arua on August 13th which left one person dead. Zaake on the other hand allegedly escaped from police custody during the same scuffle and has been on a run, though bedridden.

Government said if allowed to leave the country, Zaake may never come back, escaping prosecution. Meanwhile at Kiruddu hospital, police is also heavily deployed.
The legislators were allegedly tortured by soldiers and need urgent specialized treatment.
