Fast-rising female singer, Vinka from Muyenga based Swangz Avenue has been accused of stealing the latest club banger “Malaika” from another upcoming singer, Lovence from Leone Island.

According to Lovence, he says that he recorded the song in December last year, and shot the video in July this year. He uploaded the song on YouTube with the same title on 18th November while Vinka’s was published on 31st of October.

Lovence claims the writer of Vinka’s version, Yese Oman Rafiki copied his work and was quick to sell it to Swangz Avenue. He adds that her version is more popular because she has money to promote music. It’s believed that Nessim created the beats and forwarded it to the writer.

When we contacted the writer, he rubbished the allegations and claimed Lovence is looking for an opportunity to shine.

“Man, I don’t even look up to local writers when doing my music, am inspired by Jamaicans mostly,” he explained.

The writer is behind other popular songs like”Mbozi Zamalwa”, “Kabulengane” and “Kyolowoza” by Iren Ntale among others.
